Sananga Preparation & Care Guide
Powdered Sananga Preparation Directions
1. Mixing Combine your ground Sananga with distilled water that has been boiled for 20 minutes. Use a volume of water that slightly exceeds the volume of the powder. For example: for 30ml of Sananga powder, add 40ml of prepared water; for 60ml of powder, add 70ml of water.
2. Steeping Allow the mixture to rest for 1 to 15 hours (or more). In our tradition, it is common to prepare this blend in the evening accompanied by prayers and songs of blessing, allowing it to steep overnight to imbue it with the grounding energy of the night before separating it in the morning.
3. Straining Using a fine cheesecloth or clean, tightly woven fabric, separate the powder from the liquid. Squeeze the strained liquid into a clean dropper bottle. Your Sananga is now ready for use.
General Care & Application Guide
Storage and Shelf-Life
- Preservation: Keep your Sananga tightly closed and refrigerated when not in use.
- Timeline: When refrigerated, it can last 6 to 12 months (or more). Unrefrigerated, it will last approximately 3 months.
- Expiration: You will know the Sananga has reached the end of its lifecycle when it no longer produces a strong sensation upon application, or if the scent changes significantly.
Maintenance
- If your liquid Sananga becomes gritty or contains particles over time, you may reboil the mixture and strain it again through a cloth to remove any residue.
Application Process
- Preparation: The most supportive position for application is lying down in a comfortable, quiet space.
- Application: Place a single drop on the inner corner of each closed eye. Gently blink to allow the liquid to enter the eye, then immediately relax and keep your eyes closed.
- The Sensation: You will experience a strong, intense sensation—this is a normal part of the clearing process. Breathe deeply and keep your eyes closed until the sensation completely subsides.
- Integration: It is recommended to remain in a calm space and meditate for about 15 minutes with minimal noise or light. Avoid direct, bright light when first opening your eyes. Gently blow your nose after your session to help clear any released energy.
- Safety: Wipe away any tears produced during the process to prevent the liquid from reaching your mouth. This botanical is strictly for external use and must not be ingested. Keep completely out of reach of children.
Usage Frequency & Precautions
- Frequency: Apply no more than 2 times a day to avoid over-sensitizing the eyes.
- Precautions: Do not use this botanical if you have a sensitive or torn cornea, any pre-existing eye conditions, or if you are recovering from eye surgery (such as LASIK).
